Just took a call at the music desk from an angry grandmother in Mt. Pleasant who objected to foul language used in this week’s Blotter (on p. 21). She told me her nine-year-old grandson read the “f-word” twice and she was very upset about it. “The Post & Courier doesn’t allow this kind of thing top be published,” she said. Both “f-words” were within quoted statements taken from reports from the Charleston Police Department. “Well, that’s one distinction between the City Paper and the Post & Courier,” I responded. She refused to give her name or number for our editor or news guy to contact her. She refused to consider the idea of writing us a “letter to the editor” to make her case against such language. “I’m just gonna call one of my friends at the radio station to see what he can do about this,” she said. Which radio station? She refused to say before hanging up.
