st-p-logo.jpgWhile there’ll be plenty of Irish-themed shenanigans in the Lowcountry next week, there’s a big bash scheduled just up the highway in downtown Columbia. The Five Points neighborhood celebrates their 26th annual “St. Pat’s in Five Points” festival on Sat. March 15 with 25 live bands on five stages and various activities.

edwin1_resized.jpgThe gates will open at 9 a.m. and the musical action lasts through 7 p.m. Headlining acts include Carolina folk-rocker Edwin McCain (pictured), N.C. trio The Avett Brothers, Texas alt-country quartet Cross Canadian Ragweed, and Canadian rockers Theory of a Deadman. Other events include a Battle of the Bands, pipe ’n’ drum performances, a “strong man” competition, a “Green 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk,” and family activities. Organizers have arranged for free shuttle service from a host of satellite parking locations. Admission is $12 (or $10 in advance).
